6 Podcasting Hacks to know for 2018

Should I start aPodcast-

So I’ve been podcasting for almost 2 years and I’ve accomplished quite a few things in this short, but long 20 Months. I’ve learned a ton so I wanted to let you know how to win with podcasting in 2018 from an Expert. Before we go into the Hacks I’m going to show you two things I’ve done to leverage my podcast.

Now the picture above is the cover of an Entrepreneurial Mixtape I created. I put it out for free on all streaming platforms, but sold 50 copies for $50 and sold out in a week. Now it’s not about the money, it’s about the fact that I was able to inspire and influence people to spend money on something they were able to get for free. This showed me I had something special.

Right before Labor Day I announced that I was going on a Digital Marketing Tour for 3 months. Now I didn’t know what I was getting myself into AT ALL, but I was fearless and knew I could leverage my podcast and make this tour happen. Besides, who was going on a tour who had a podcast?? This was me being different and creative.

We weren’t able to make it to every city, because there were hurricanes and natural disasters around this time, but it was a great experience and when I do this again I am way more informed on how to go about it. I essentially got paid to learn and build my brand. That’s a win win to me.

So those are a few things I was able to do with my podcast and below are they 6 Podcasting Hacks for 2018!

Hack #1 Dial In on Your Avatar

When I first started my podcast I had no Avatar. I just wanted to share my message with anyone who wanted to listen. I did this because of where I was at in my life. I just wanted to help people. Sound familiar?

But the thing I learned is that although we all want to help people we must do it intentionally and with a plan. So you have to dial in on your Avatar when you’re planning this podcast. If you know exactly whom you’re talking to it’s so much easier to create content for that person. You can better serve your audience this way, but if you don’t know whom you’re talking to you’re going to have a ton of trouble.

Hack #2 Know what you’re selling (Have a Purpose)

When I launched my podcast I didn’t have anything to sell (Crazy right). My podcast was me giving back, in a sense, because I was investing in real estate before I came into this online entrepreneurial world.

When you launch your podcast you want to have your offerings in place so that when people reach out to you you’re able to send them somewhere and move forward with your products and/or services. So for me I was building as I was growing and it’s a lot easier if you already have those in place before you launch.

Hack #3 MARKET the Content you put out

One of the most popular questions people ask me is “How many episodes should I do? This is a great question, but here’s some perspective for you.

Think about every episode like a New Product or Product launch. You have to handle your podcast in Layers.

You have to be marketing your Podcast/Platform and then you have to market each episode that you publish. What good is publishing episodes if they’re not getting out to anyone?

When I was putting out 4 Episodes PER WEEK I had to push EVERY SINGLE Episode Every Monday through Thursday week in and week out. That can get EXTREMELY DRAINING. That’s a full time job in itself.

So instead of asking how many episodes per week you should put out, think about how many single episodes you can market effectively per week.

Whatever you do, DO NOT just put out episodes and not have them being marketed. If you do that then you’re going to feel like you’re not making ANY progress at all and it may lead to you quitting and/or feeling sad or depressed. I talk about this strategy a lot deeper inside of Podcast With A Vision.

Hack #4 Plan Patiently

Now when I was coming up with my strategy for the podcast I came up with the crazy idea to do 4 episodes per week with 2 interviews and 2 episodes of myself solo EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

Some would have called me crazy, but I didn’t care because I was just so passionate about my message and the things I’ve been through. Now here’s the thing about planning patiently.

When you are coming up with your Strategy plan for something you can keep up with in the future! There’s a saying that goes “It’s not about what you can get, it’s about what you can keep or maintain.” That’s the mindset I want you to have when launching your podcast.

You can always start out with 1 episode per week and then graduate to 2 or 3 episodes per week once you gauge your workload, systems etc. Don’t jump into 4 episodes per week and then get burnt out in 2 months and give up, because that’s what happens more times than not.

If you know yourself and know you can do 3,4,5 episodes per week then go for it, but don’t feel obligated to put out all this content every single day just because other people are talking about it. There’s more than one way to win in business, especially online.

Hack #5 BE ORIGINAL Please

Now this “hack” is extremely important. I’m going to need YOU to be original and 100% yourself. Now you may be reading this and saying to yourself “I am original, what’s he talking about?” I really mean ORIGINAL & AUTHENTIC. Allow me to explain.

We are living in a society where everyone is teaching the same things over and over again and just regurgitating the exact same stuff. It gets old and annoying after a while. I need you to think different and creative. If you aren’t creative then hire someone with a creative mind to help you strategize or Purchase a course that will help guide you to where you want to get to.

Your podcast has NO limits! Literally none, and your podcast will go as far as you want to take it. My podcast has been with me on tour, with an entrepreneurial mix tape and so many more things. I thought outside the box, and didn’t do what everyone was doing.

Whatever your Niche is I want you to step outside of it and look at it from an Eagle’s Eye View. As you look at it I want you to then ask yourself what is everyone doing? Once you recognize it all then I want you to shake it up and do something completely different that no one in the niche or industry would have thought about.

If you can do that then I Guarantee you you’ll be successful because people love different. That’s how you will get those major publications, and speaking engagements and everything else you want.

Hack #6 Your Podcast doesn’t make you money

Say it with me. “My Podcast doesn’t directly make me money.”

I need you to understand that. The biggest podcast on the planet doesn’t make a dime. But their influence does, their products do, their services do, their live events do.

Your podcast is another Distribution channel to MARKET yourself and your business. That is what I want you to use this platform.

Use your podcast as a distribution channel and also another touch point for your potential customers and clients to get more familiar with you to increase sales.

Did you know that on average it takes 7 times for someone to touch you in order for him or her to purchase something from you? So why not have a podcast and then market each episode to them and after they’re more familiar with you then they will purchase from you.

This is why I love podcasting because it’s a platform and once you put out a piece of content out there it’s on the Internet FOREVER. So you may close a client today from a podcast you put out a year ago! It happens every single day.

So those are my Top 6 hacks for Podcasting in 2018. If you have yet to start a podcast and want to get started then I have a course titled Podcast With A Vision where I take all the guess work away and give you EVERYTHING you need in order to make it happen.

This is the ONLY course you’ll ever need because it’s an all in one and there’s no fluff. I tell you EXACTLY what I did in order to make your podcast something special and of course we have a community to go along with it as well.

This course is the best “Bang for your buck” by far so if you want to learn how to do what I’ve done CLICK HERE and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

SWAV 230 : No need to be scared of Competition!

“If you want to be taken seriously be consistent.”

No matter what you do in life, you have to be consistent to be taken seriously. Nobody will take you seriously, if you are not consistent. If you are courting somebody and you’re not consistent, she won’t take you seriously. If a parent is not consistent, their kids won’t take them seriously. If I say my podcast will be published 4 times a week and I only publish two on inconsistent time, you as my audience won’t take me seriously.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to be consistent. Be where you say you are going to be at that time over and over again. Build a reputation where you are consistent, what happens is your life will be enriched. Your word is going to be respected because your word is what you are doing.

SWAV 147 : How to treat your body wholy on the Entrepreneurial Journey W/ Katherine Igah Phillips

Katherine has been running Returning to Nature for 5 years now and is loving every minute of it. She started in the medical field and was working at a practice, and then went off on her own and never looked back.

Katherine is all into Holistic Wellness and she’s an Integrative Practitioner. Holistic Wellness is finding ways to heal yourself, your body naturally without any type of chemicals, drugs, and/or pills. So she said she was going to dedicate her life to doing that.

I asked Katherine about Support and she said look inside of yourself for Support. So many people are so busy trying to get stuff from outside of us, but very few of us actually take the time to look inside and get what we need from there.

How to Build an Online Presence

It’s no secret that technology is advancing faster than we can blink. With technology advancing we are now in a time where if you don’t bring your business online as well as offline there is more likely of a chance you will go extinct. If not extinct you won’t stand a chance to your competitors who get it. So below are 3 things you can do to build your online presence.

Have A Message you’re willing to die for

I know it sounds brutal, but let’s think about it. How do you expect to stand out if you don’t strongly believe in what you are saying and talking about. How do you expect people to believe you if you don’t believe you. You have to believe in your message all the way through if you plan on building something online.

Consistency Wins

The word consistency is often overlooked unfortunately. In this online space you have to be patient while diligently working toward building it all up. If you have a brick and mortar business or just starting or expanding in the online realm your patience needs to be infinite. It is not a fly by night thing although it may seem that way. Whatever production schedule you choose to have then you need to stick to it. If you say you will publish on your website one time a day or one time a week then you need to be there every single time because the people listening, reading, and watching are sitting there waiting.

You will Work harder than ever

This may be the start of your whole business or you expanding from brick and mortar into the online space. Whatever it is you must be prepared to lay the foundation. What the foundation consists of so much more then you probably know. Especially if you don’t have too much money to start out with. You will be doing tons of research, and the research will consist of watching videos, reading books, articles and so much more. If you aren’t prepared to put in that real work then there’s no point in even starting because you are wasting your time.

These are just a few of the many of things to consider when starting to build your online presence. It is very feasible, but you must be willing to put in a tremendous time investment upfront. If that’s not something you’re willing to do then just stay right where you are.

Why I never want to be a Serial Entrepreneur

Serial Entrepreneur

Serial Entrepreneur

When I first started my journey I remember clear as day, I had got a batch of business cards printed out. The In big letters the front of my business cards said “Serial Entrepreneur” and below it had about 4 titles (Photographer, motivational speaker, real estate investor, and videographer). Now there’s nothing wrong with having multiple talents, but I had no type of focus.

There’s a saying that says jack-of-all-trades, but master at none. All I knew is I didn’t want to work for anyone ever again, but that was it and I came to find out that I had it all wrong. I was so caught up in entrepreneurship, freedom, self-employed, and business that I never really asked myself who I was and what I really wanted to do with my life. The result of this was piss poor focus and falling victim to the shiny object syndrome.

When people say they are Serial Entrepreneurs I begin to get confused because that still doesn’t tell me exactly what it is that they do. If you’re not able to say what you do then you probably don’t do anything, and that’s the road I was going down. When are just starting out in entrepreneurship or starting your business you need to figure out what it is you’re going to do and stick to that one thing. So many people are trying to be Puff Daddy before being P Diddy or Sean Combs. So many people are trying to portray themselves as a champion when they haven’t even played all the games to get there.

In my opinion Jay Z, Puff Daddy, and 50 cent are not serial entrepreneurs, they are moguls or businessmen. They all focused on one thing built it up and took advantage of all the big opportunities that came after their initial success. I feel that so many people want to be moguls, but call themselves Serial Entrepreneurs. So many people don’t have that one thing, so they end up hustling 3 or 4 things just to get by.

Because of all this, I never want to be a serial entrepreneur. I just simple want to be an entrepreneur who built a successful business. That’s what I want to be known for because I know that so many future opportunities will come from that. So if you don’t have one thing to focus on, I suggest you focus on it and stop calling yourself a serial entrepreneur. Get rid of your ego and build a business.

How to make money in the next 6 hours from scratch

I know what you’re thinking. Interesting title, but let me see what this article is about really quick. I promise you I won’t waste your time. Most ways to make money you have to put work in, and crank up the machine. But I have found a way to literally make money in the next few hours, so check it out.

No matter where you’re at you can do this especially in the United States. So most of us have things laying around at home in the garage, closet or whatever right. What I have found is a lot of those things have value to other people although you haven’t used that thing in the past few months or maybe even year. So here’s what you can do.

1. Gather

Go gather up everything you do not want nor think you need. What I’ve learned is if you sell something off you really won’t even miss it. You can make a decent amount if you do this.

2. Download

There’s an app you must download. It’s called Offer Up, and looks like this.

This is an app that alot of people in your city use and they buy furnitutre, jewlery, cars, shoes, etc. It’s like a smaller more cleaner version of Craigslist and I love it. Minutes after you post you can have messages of people trying to buy stuff from you. If you do this now you can have cold hard cash in the next couple of hours! It really works! Go try it out, and I guarantee it can change your life. I say that because this can be the tool to help you save a couple hundred dollars to start the business you really want to start.

Big Money Idea

Now let’s take it a step further. There’s a section on Craigslist that my wife told me about. The section is a “free” section. If you’re feeling really froggy try this. Go on the free section of craigslist and go pick up the items. It may be a couch, and TV, chairs, doesn’t matter. As long as it’s in good condition you can go pick it up.

Once you have that free item in your hand take those photos of it and put it on your Offer Up app, and you can sell what you got for free within a couple hours. That’s insane Margins and great returns on your time invested. If you get really good at this you may be able to turn it into a full time thing. I’m just saying. If you try this out and are successful at it let me know so we can celebrate it!

6 things to ask yourself when you look in the mirror

It’s time to look in the mirror. If you haven’t noticed I haven’t posted a blog post in a while. I have been really and more focused on my podcast. I’ve been forced to look in the mirror myself, and at my life. Here’s some things to ask yourself.

Who am I?

Ask yourself this because you need to know it! If you don’t know who you are internally then what’s the point of continuing to live? You have no other reason for doing anything.

What do I stand for?

What do you stand for? What are your morals? What is your integrity based upon? Those are the questions to know because if you don’t know them, you won’t know what foundation your life and/or business needs to be set up on. So know what you stand for please.

What’s my life about?

Most don’t even know the answer to this question, and that’s perfectly ok. I just think it’s important to start to ask this question because it will start to make you really think. It will make you think about things you never thought about before.

What’s my purpose?

Why are you here on this earth? You weren’t born to just pay bills and die. You weren’t born to just let days, months, and years pass you by without experiencing abundance, peace, and happiness. So answer this question and get busy.

What excites me?

What does excite you? What gets your blood pumping and adrenaline running? For me it’s talking about success and entrepreneurship. I’ve risked my whole life for my Vision of living life freely as an entrepreneur. It truly excites me that you can make a living based off of your talents and gifts. I know mine, and I’m striving.

Why am I doing what I’m doing?

Know your why. Your why will ensure you stick to your vision no matter how hard things get. Your why is more powerful than you think. If you don’t know why you’re doing something then what’s the point? There is no point. Your Once you answer this question never forget it and stick to it when times get hard because they will before they get better.

If you are unhappy it is your fault, and this is what I highly recommend

Here’s what you can do if you’re not happy, and it’s simple but not easy. If you’re not happy then make a sacrifice to commit time in order to ensure your happiness in the near future. The best example I can come up with is if you’re working a job from the morning to the early or late evening and not happy. If you get to work at 8am and don’t get off until 4 or 5pm those hours in the evening is more than enough to create your business on the side until your revenue is increased enough to the point where you can quit your current job.

What most people do is when they get off work they feel like it’s time to chill. Whether it be after getting off that day or on your off days most people just like to chill. People get off work and forget the pain they feel when they wake up pissed off that they have to go do something that they truly don’t want to do.

Success is your duty and obligation. Whatever you see fit as success is something you should be in pursuit until you accomplish it, and then it’s going to be time to increase your view of success and strive for that. I just don’t agree with coming home, getting off of work, drinking a beer and watching TV or something to that affect. So many people are extremely unhappy but continuously doing those exact same things everyday that make them unhappy without making a conscious decision to change it immediately.

If you complain everyday or every so often about your job or situation no one is going to care, especially if you aren’t doing anything to get in a better place in life. This is also deeper than just being happy, although that’s very important, but it’s also about enjoying your adulthood. A majority of your adulthood is spent working so why are you not doing something that brings you happiness and fulfillment? 20 + years is an eternity to be miserable and unhappy.

Go get what you deserve! Get off your ass, put that beer down, put that remote control down, stay away from partying and go build you something that’s going to pay dividends down the line so you’re not stuck doing something you absolutely hate!

How the Wright brothers created a whole Industry

Qantas “Spirit of Australia” 737-800 with Winglets ArtworkK64241

Qantas "Spirit of Australia" 737-800 with Winglets Artwork K64241

So there are two brothers with the last name of wright. I want to share with you what they did and why I strive so hard to be as great as I possibly can. Two brothers by the name of Orville and Wilbur Wright were inventors of the world’s first successful aerial airplane. They created the world’s first aerial airplane!

Now allow me to break this down for you because some people would take this really lightly. Before airplanes were invented people were on horses because cars weren’t even invented at this time and technology wasn’t advanced at all. So the reason why this is so huge is because they operated off a simple idea they had and that was it. People looked at them crazy and laughed at them, but they didn’t care and made it happen.

The dream of their idea becoming a reality was much more important than all the words the writics had to say. This is a great example of Entrepreneurship at it’s finest. Entrepreneurs create, entrepreneurs think so far outside the box it scares them and others to death. The only difference between entrepreneurs and regular people is that entrepreneurs keep going even though they are scared and regular people allow that scared feeling to stop them in their tracks. That’s the only difference.

After the airplane was created, so many good things happened. The Wright brothers created a whole INDUSTRY. I say this because after the invention of the airplane businessmen saw opportunities to profit and began making airplanes that could fly people from the U.S to Europe and Africa to Asia. This was monumental to the world because after that the airline industry came about, and what that means is Job opportunities for so many people to have a chance to provide for their spouses and families.

Another reason why I say that everything you do in life Starts With a Vision because without a Vision these guys would have never been able to manifest this. Without a Vision they would have quit after the first critic, or first time being laughed at. But they stayed the course and continued to push and push until it manifested in the real world. If two brothers are able to create an airplane in the 1800s then you can start a profitable business in 2016. It’s that simple.

3 things you can learn from DJ Khaled that will help you in marketing

It’s no secret anymore that Dj Khaled is absolutely a modern day Branding genius, and it didn’t happen by accident. If you don’t know what I’m talking then download an app called Snapchat and add DJ Khaled, and you will slowly see what I’m talking about. In the last 12 months Dj khaled has went from a well known DJ who does a lot of collaborative records to a worldwide Mogul, and icon. He was able to do this by doing 3 things and it all happened on Snapchat.

Take advantage of what’s trending

So snapchat has been trending for a solid year now and it hasn’t even reached it’s peak yet. Snapchat is a social media app which allows you to share very short video clips (10 seconds) along with pictures. It gives people a day in the life feel and you get to see another side of your favorite celebrities. What DJ khaled did was take advantage of this opportunity. I’m sure he didn his research and looked at where this has the possibility to go, and then he started putting in the work. He began giving people a look into his daily life and fans started going crazy over it. He made people laugh, inspired others, and so much more. Because of his reach and success on snapchat he’s now been able to leverage that attention to get on mmovies, countless amount of magazine covers, and now on the Beyonce formation tour. All because he took advantage of what’s trending.

Have your Own language

Having your own language has it’s benefits for so many reasons. One of Dj Khaled’s most popular saying is “Another One” and “We the Best!” Now those may seem like a couple words to you, but he says it so often, now when someone else says it or thinks about the word DJ Khaled is immediately triggered in their mind. He also loves saying “stay away from they.” Which basically means stay away from the haters, and the people who don’t believe in you and in what you are doing. Now a lot of people resonate with that and love what he’s saying. What has his own language done from him? After his language is known by a lot of people he started a clothing line with all his favorite saying from t shirts, to flip flops, to hoodies. Now he’s making a fortune off clothing apparrel alone. That’s what his own language has done for him.

Be repetitive

Here’s the last thing I’ve noticed about him. He promotoes most of his stuff on snapchat because that’s where the attention is at. He’s getting 3 or 4 MILLION views on his stories, so why not market on snapchat? So whenever he has a big announcement he preps you a few days before. He will say I have a big announcement in 3 days, and for those next 2 and a half days you will hear it so much you will be anticipating the announcement. When he announced he was going on the formation tour with Beyonce at least 60% of his snaps had #formationtour on them. What repetitiveness does is subliminally get things in your mind. Dj khaled makes you want to come back to his story to see what the next big annoucnement is or to see what chef dee is cooking for breakfast. He is a genius marketer and had taken so many people by storm it’s almost scary.

This is only the beginning for him, and so many others marketing on their social media platforms. Don’t take social media lightly because it truly has the capability to change the whole trajectory of your life if you are able to find your lane in it. Social Media marketing is putting traditional channels out of business because the cost is way less and a lot more effective, so in the near future you better be killing it in your space.
